Sky's Six-Month Milestones
I hate to brag but ... my baby is possibly one of the most advanced little guys of all times! He clearly is a superbaby on all accounts. Documented evidence will come this week from his pediatrician but Hayden and I think he's quite gifted. Just get a load of some of his latest tricks:
*Has been rolling over from back to tummy and tummy to back for months now
*Sits up by himself from laying down position
*Pulls himself up to standing from sitting position (especially in the crib or pack n play -- had to lower the crib this weekend to its lowest setting and removed the mobile -- he was swinging on it!)
*Walks all over the house holding mommy or daddy's hands (he really takes steps!)
*Goes up on all fours like he's going to crawl but goes backwards -- only a matter of time before he's totally mobile. Gotta get those baby gates and soon!
*Holds small items (like those little puffy snacks) in his fingers and can feed himself (but prefers mommy to feed him still) -- likes to hold his spoon and bang on things with it
*Eats cereal, fruit and veggies for every meal (three times a day -- still nurses six to eight times a day -- little chowhound!)
*Sits/stands in his "bounce baby bounce" contraption (not exactly a saucer but something like that)
*Figured out how to make the baby swing go faster by moving his legs -- that's all for that!
*Figured out how to wiggle out of his little bouncy infant seats -- done and done.
*He enjoys playing with all his lovies and stuffed animals (especially the Busy Bee, the Little Slugger, the new musical singing Puppy from Auntie Phyllis, the yellow bear from Great Grandpa Norton and all his soft little friends)
*Shakes rattles and plays with toys to amuse himself
*Loves music and singing (he especially loved the classical guitar player at Las Hadas Mexican restaurant last night! Of course, the sexy Flamenco dancer held his attention, too. Typical guy :)
*Sits on his little Fisher Price car but hasn't made it go yet
*Likes to pet the cats (they tolerate him fairly well)
*Squeals and laughs frequently -- he's very social but seems comfortable with himself too
*Says a-goo, nay (when he doesn't want something) and da da da da... basically the kid talks all day!
*Loves to go for walks around town in stroller and baby bjorn (starting to get a little too heavy for that) -- notices all the people and smiles at everyone (especially loves children)
*Loves to look at himself in the mirror -- Who's that baby?
*Likes shaking and banging things (he's so musical -- perhaps a drummer?)
*Last week, he decided to feed himself cereal (dipped his hands in the bowl and put it into his mouth)
*He likes doing raspberries and making lots of funny sounds with his mouth
*He gives wet open-mouth kisses to mommy
*When he wants to be picked up, he lifts up his arms to you
*Holds his legs up during diaper changes (such a big helper!)
*Hold his hair brush and brushes his hair (and Mommy's hair) -- also will wash his own face with the wash cloth (doesn't like anyone else doing it)
*Loves baths and splashing (has only been in the pool a couple times but seemed to really like that too!)
*He likes his soft cloth books and turns the pages (likes Mommy to read)
*Love puppets including his pirates from Auntie Jessie and animals from Auntie Anna
Physically, Skyler is starting to fill out and seems heavier to me (his legs are chubby and he has the Stumpfl double chin). He's getting his first two teeth on the bottom front (can feel the nubs). He's quite the drooler and extremely alert. He doesn't nap much but I can occasionally get him to go down for an hour in the morning and an hour in the late afternoon. Usually goes to bed around 9 p.m. and sleeps for four to six hours before waking to be fed, then another three or four hours before getting up for the day. He always wakes up happy. His hair is coming in very light (blond or light brown). His eyes are still very blue (must have gotten that from Great Grandpa Joe Norton) and he's in six-month sizes now (right on schedule). Ok, I know I'm rambling now but Grandparents and Aunts and Uncles want to know these things ... will have more photos up soon.
